Faded wrought iron furniture can be refreshed with a coat of spray paint. The makeover is easy and inexpensive, and your furniture will look fabulous.
Since today is the Furniture Fixer Upper Tour, we have five furniture makeovers for you, so check all of them out when you get to the bottom of this tutorial!
The black wrought iron chair was a recent purchase from my favorite junk shop, and the pink chair is one I painted several years ago. I’m not a fan of black wrought iron, and the pink paint on the older chair faded over the years, so a refresh was in order.
The chairs needed cushions, and I found these at the At Home store.
I pulled spray paints from my stock to find a color match for the cushions.
I couldn’t decide between blue and green, so I chose to paint one chair green and one blue.
The chair from the junk store was very dirty.
I cleaned it well with Simple Green (on Amazon)
Once the chair was dry, I painted it with Rust-Oleum Spray Paint in Green Apple.
I turned the chair upside down, sideways, and every way to coat all the details with spray paint. It’s important to do the underside of the chairs.
Now for the second makeover. I have a long history with the pinkish chair.
When I purchased this chair at my favorite junk shop back in 2016, it was green. The only outdoor furniture color I dislike more than black is green, lol.
I painted the chair with Krylon Chalky Finish Spray Paint in the color scarlet. I liked the color a lot, and it had the matte finish I love. I searched for the spray paint on Amazon, and it is $28 a can now. Too expensive for me.
I decided on the more budget-friendly (since it was on my paint shelf) Rust-Oleum spray paint in midnight blue.
The color is deep and rich! Rustoleum spray paint never fails me. The spray is always consistent, with a steady flow.
The makeovers took only an hour. I talk with people who think painting furniture, even with spray paint, is time-consuming, and it really isn’t.
You can paint wood furniture and have it back in place in your home in as little as one day!
I admit to having a lot of wrought iron furniture. Hey, it lasts forever, and I can change the look with paint, cushions, and pillows.
The chair bases were made slightly differently, but the rocking mechanism is the same. I especially love the rocker-type outdoor chairs.
I painted a wooden armchair with this midnight blue spray paint and replaced the seat cover. Chair makeovers are a lot of fun because you can completely transform them.
