How To Refresh A Thrift Store Wreath

How do you feel about wreaths? I love them! But they are so expensive these days.
Because of the cost, I always search the floral department at thrift stores for wreaths I can refresh, makeover, or redo….whatever the term.
I found this wreath at The Salvation Army store, and it was a little pricey at $7.99, but I purchased it anyway. I guess it is a Eucalyptus wreath, and this type is usually quite expensive.
The leaves were a little bent and shabby-looking, and they were a bit dusty, but I cleaned the wreath the best I could and removed the worst-looking leaves.
Then I went through my floral stash. I purchased this pair of flower stems from Walmart a couple of months ago, thinking I would make a wreath to hang in our family room. I had searched for wreaths with colors in my decor scheme, but didn’t find any.
I am still trying to decorate around the new furniture we bought several months ago. It’s really difficult when you change the whole color scheme of a room!
I started clipping the blooms from the stems so I could hot glue them to the wreath, but then figured out I could just pull the blooms from the stems.
I placed the flowers, alternating colors, then hot gued them all around the wreath. Sorry…..no photos of the glue technique. I know you guys can use hot glue.
Thinking I would hang the wreath using a metal wreath hanger I spray painted the red hanger to match the wreath.
I selected the paprika color from my stash.
Then I hung the wreath using the spray-painted hanger on the white door in our guest bedroom. I prefer taking photos with white backgrounds to accentuate the contrast.
But my original plan was to hang it on the laundry room door in our family room. And that’s what I did only I decided to hang the wreath using a ribbon.
The metal door hanger kept getting caught at the top of the door when we opened and closed the door so that wasn’t working out for me.
I went to Hobby Lobby and found peachy colored ribbon to match the flowers in the wreath. I looped the ribbon around the wreath, then used a thumbtack to secure the ribbon to the back of the laundry room door.
The doubled ribbon didn’t want to line up just right, so I paperclipped them together and thumbtacked the ribbon into place on the front side of the door.
Ta=dah! Perfect.
The photo above shows another thrift store wreath I remade for our front door…..and I have to say it is my favorite wreath of all time!! The color combination is something new for me, and it worked. See the makeover…..This Creative Thrift Store Wreath Repurpose Idea Is Amazing
