How To Repurpose Miniature Glass Dishes

I found the miniature glass dishes in a box lot of stuff I bought at an auction. They sat in the box for a few months because I couldn’t decide what to do with them.
This month for Thrift Store Decor Day I finally hit on an idea. Why not glue the miniature glass dishes to the tops of salt and pepper shakers? And that’s what I did. Take a look….

The project details…… I searched my junk shelves to find base pieces for the miniature glass dishes. and found pieces to work with. The glass bottle in the front of the photo with the etched flower is so pretty.
As often happens when working on a project I wasn’t sure what direction I was going with the project. I had the mini glass dishes I mentioned earlier but I decided to pull a few China pieces from the shelf too.
But that was kind of a waste of time. The China plates didn’t work on the shakers and small bottles. They were just too big but the clear glass dishes were just right.
I first thought the bottle with the etched designs was a shaker but when applying the glue to the top of the bottle I noticed the lip was broken and the piece looked to be a perfume bottle.
The break was smooth with no jagged edges, and I used super glue to adhere the dish to the bottle. I like superglue for projects like this because the glue dries almost immediately.
I glued a mini glass dish to each of the glass bottles, and how cute!! The new creations are perfect for small spaces where you might want a catchall piece jewelry or maybe pocket change.
Use them to hold your favorite earrings or to display a special collectible.
I hope you take this idea and run with it! Use what you have at home in your junk drawer or closet.
Get creative with the items. It isn’t necessary to use shakers and glass dishes.
Try making a larger serving stand type piece using a vase or candleholder as the base and a platter or pan as the top piece.

Super cute idea! I found little plates like this in the eighties in the New England area (Sandwich Glass) in antique and gift shops as souveniers They came in a cute little box with a description of what town or glass co they represented.
Such a great idea! They are really cute. These could be used as risers, also. Put a candle and/or other decor on the little plate to raise them up in a vignette.
Your upcycled glassware project turned out so cute! I always pick up cute cut glass plates when I’m out thrifting and now I’ll have something useful to do with them (besides sitting in a pile in my craft room)!
These turned out so cute Kathy! I love all the glassware, I have a lot of pieces from my grandparents! Great tutorial
Kathy,
I love the blue plate and floral bottle. Super cute upcycle!

Too cute, Kathy! I can never have too many trinket dishes around the house. These are multi-dimensional so I can group these with some other low favorites! Pinned.
