The Right Furniture Knobs Are Important

This is a very short post about selecting the right furniture knobs for your furniture makeovers or furniture refreshes.
I painted the side table/nightstand back in November and couldn’t find knobs I really liked. I put these on and decided they would do.
Several of you commented about the knobs and that they did not really work with this piece. I had to agree with you.
The paint is Dixie Belle and the color is Caviar. It has a matte finish when dry. A couple of weeks ago I applied two coats of Dixie Belle Clear Coat Satin finish to the table.
Now it has a little more shine to it. Before applying the sealer, I removed the knobs. After the sealer dried, I started putting the knobs back on the table. Then I stopped.
I searched through my knob stash again and found these drop knobs with the leather detail. I think they are perfect. The knobs are black, although the way the light is hitting some of the knobs, they look maybe navy blue in the photos.
And the cockeyed knob on the left isn’t really crooked. It is just hanging wrong, and I didn’t notice when I took the photo.
Do you think these knobs do justice to the table? I have an example of the wrong knobs on an unpainted vintage piece….
I refreshed and refurbished the finish on this piece for a friend. You need to see the before here…How To Refresh And Restore Antique Furniture
I like to add a bit of drama to pieces by using drawer pulls that do not fit the era or style. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. After the refresh, I put the gold sparkly knobs on the chest.
The owner went to Hobby Lobby and bought these reproductions of vintage knobs. They were definitely the right furniture knobs for this piece.
That’s it. Thanks for being here, Kathy
