Giving a $4 thrift store wreath a makeover with colorful flowers was quick and easy, and now this beautiful wreath makes me smile. Just wait until you see how gorgeous it is!

Goodwill Wreath

The wreath is a Goodwill purchase from several months ago. It was a little shabby, but I could see potential. The base was a grapevine wreath, and there was plenty of greenery to work with.

I removed the bold fuchsia flowers, and the wreath has been hanging on the front door for several months.

This past weekend, I decided it was time to decorate the porch for spring and summer, and the wreath needed a makeover.

I went through my stash of floral things and found several summer, springlike, bunches of flowers to work with.

I usually cut the stems with wire cutters, but not this time. Since the stems were going on the wreath, they needed to be short, so I just pulled the bloom stem from the base stem.

I saved the bush or bouquet with the leaves. You never know. I might take the wreath apart and put the blooms back on. Probably not, but I never throw anything away. That is why our workshop is such a mess!

This flower stem is from Dollar Tree. I bought it and some others a few weeks ago because I loved the colors.

I began the wreath makeover by placing the pink hydrangea blooms in a random but pleasing order on the wreath. Then, I used my Ryobi cordless hot glue gun to adhere them to the wreath. I love this glue gun—no cords to mess with.

Next I added the tiny pink Dollar Tree flowers around the wreath. Then I stood back and admired the wreath but decided it needed more oomph.

So I thought about adding the yellow flower stems from Dollar Tree but wasn’t sure about the color mix with the pink.

It’s the perfect color combo, right? I love, love, love this “new” wreath. The yellow and pink combination is in your face and so perfect for spring and summer.

I cannot remember where I bought the hydrangea bush, but it was probably from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. With the addition of the new flowers and the $4 wreath price, my gorgeous wreath still rings in under $20, for sure.

Have you looked at wreath prices lately? A $20 wreath is a deal, and I would put my wreath up against any store-bought wreath any day.

Sorry….I really am impressed with myself, aren’t I? Tell me what you think of the wreath…good, bad, sad, happy…. Thanks for being here, and have a great day, Kathy
