Side Table Makeover With Dixie Belle Paint Color Acadia

This little side table has seen a lot of use. It sits beside the sofa where I relax, work on the blog, read a book, or do whatever. I painted it many years ago, and the area where my drink coaster resides has a lot of chipped and worn paint. Plus it kind of looks worn all over!
Well, today, for the Furniture Fixer Upper Tour, I’m giving it a totally new look. I decorate with a lot of earth-tone colors, and the family room, where the table is placed, is primarily shades of green, orange, and brown.
So, it is time for the antiqued off-white paint finish to go away.
The thought of painting the table was daunting. All those cutout designs on the sides of the table are a bear to paint. I just bit the bullet and went for it.
I had this paint color, Acadia, from Dixie Belle, on the shelf, and I thought it would work well in our family room. Little did I know that Acadia would become my new favorite paint color. I have to tell you that after painting the table with Acadia, all the side tables in the family room are getting a makeover.
This is the description of Acadia on the Dixie Belle website…..Its rich, dark hues evoke the rugged coastlines and dense, pine-covered hills of Acadia National Park, making it the perfect choice for bringing a touch of grandeur into your home. This paint color is a rich deep green that is an absolute beautiful paint color.
I have a hard time describing the color. It’s green with a hint of blue and maybe a smidgen of gray. That doesn’t make sense, right? And it looks different colors in different lighting situations. You will see what I mean when you look at the photos taken in natural light and the photo I took of the table in our family room.
Dixie Belle paint brushes on so smoothly, just like butter. I usually apply two coats of paint to my furniture projects.
I had to go back and paint the areas I missed in the details on the sides. And I repeated this process several times. I even got a flashlight to see the corners and the top parts of the details. It was a pain.
The above photo was taken in the house. You can see the lighting is different, and the paint has just a hint of blue. I took most of the photos in the shop against a brown backdrop.
Because of the lighting and the furniture arrangement in the family room, it was difficult to get good photos of the entire table.
After going over the table a bazillion times, I think I managed to cover all of the white paint. The sides of the table are pretty anyway.
The knob is from Hobby Lobby. I like the added bit of color.

No, but I may put a matte sealer over it. So far I’m using the table where I sit and drink coffee and stuff and so far it wipes up great!
Did you have to put a finish on this piece?
Kathy,
The new look on the old table is beautiful, and I’m not usually a fan of green. It’s a really cute side table and looks so much better with her new outfit.
Pinned!

Great transformation!
Just gorgeous! Love that color! I may have to transform something already in my house with Acadia. I love the colorful knob, just the right extra touch.
This table looks so pretty in its new, sophisticated color! I bet it was a pain getting all those details, but it looks great! XOXO
This is a beautiful shade of green – I love it. You have some mad painting skillz to stick with those finer details. Very good job! And I love the knob, too.
Kathy that table turned out beautiful! I know you said it was a pain but WOW is it gorgeous! Great job
I’m not usually a green person but I absolutely love this color. The table looks great!
