In just three minutes, you can transform a plain vase into a stylish, designer-worthy piece using frosted spray paint. This makeover turned out much better than I expected! The fresh, modern vibe is truly impressive.

I have the quick tutorial for you, along with two additional spray paint projects! And today is the Thrift Store Decor Tour, and you know what that means—links at the bottom of the post.

The clear vase has held many bouquets over the years. Sometimes the flowers were cuttings from my lawn and sometimes the bouquets were from a local store.

The vase was sitting on my workshop shelf, and I thought it was time for a new look.

The Rustoleum Frosted Glass Spray Paint has been on my paint shelf for a while. After using the spray paint I can’t understand why I haven’t worked with it before.

I applied several coats of frosted glass to the vase, waiting a few minutes between each coat.

When I thought the vase was “frosty” enough, I stopped. And it looks so pretty. Surprising what you can do with a couple of spare minutes and a can of spray paint.

I love the frosted look, and it really elevated the clear vase.

That was a quick tutorial, and now I have those two additional projects I mentioned earlier.

The green vase was all scratched up, and the red spray paint is a wow color.

See what I mean……WOW.

I actually spray-painted these bottles, jars, and vases a couple of months ago, then life happened. So you will understand the red, white, and blue display below.

I spray painted all of these projects on the same day. The smallish red dish holding the sand dollars was a decorative china dish. At least this colorful display is in time for Labor Day.

Next, I spray painted a clear bowl-shaped dish with Rustoleum Cinnamon color that reminds me of terra cotta.

And then I added faux succulents to the terra cotta colored pots/vases. That’s the end of my spray paint story for today. Now, it’s time to take the Thrift Store Decor Tour. Just click the links below the “before makeovers” collage….

  1. Thank you so much Bobby. My Dad was one of a kind and he will be missed by many. Yes, spray paint is a wonderful product but if I rush it I tend to get drips….no patience, lol. Thanks for the comment!

  2. The frosted glass looks like new! Modern colours and a modern feel for tired pieces – I really like it. That was a good tip about light coats and allow to dry in between – I have had problems painting glass before because of not being patient enough but found out the hard way that thick coats are a no-no if you want a good result.
Also, I have been away and not checking my mails, but catching up I see now that sadly events have moved on with your Dad. I am very sorry to hear this Kathy. My condolences. It’s a tough time. My thoughts are with you.
