Faux Succulents In Fancy Thrift Store Glasses

Faux Succulents are my new favorite thing. I don’t have a green thumb so faux is my friend. I’m telling you guys up front it’s really a drastic overstatement to call this project a craft or diy. It is the easiest project EVER.

Fancy Faux Succulents Never Need Watering

The project took a turn half way thru but I’ll get to that.

This fun makeover is for Thrift Store Décor Day. Be sure and visit the rest of the team after viewing my project. They appreciate you coming by.

    thrift store glasses

I started out with the three glasses from my local thrift store. I went to the store with an idea for a project in my head and purposely selected these pieces.

    river rock

See I had this bag of river stones at home from an earlier shopping trip and I needed to use them in something.

    remove stickers

First thing I did was to remove all those sticky labels from the glasses with Goo Gone. I hate those labels.

    candle for display

My plan was to make candleholders out of the glasses using the river stones as filler.

    candle holders

I put the project together and immediately said “No”. The candles weren’t working for me.

    faux succulents

Then I had an ah-ha moment. I remembered the package of faux succulents I picked up at a blog convention. They’ve been in my stash for over a year. Time to use them.

    fill container with river rocks

The project was as simple as placing the faux succulents into each container and filling the glasses up with the river stones.

    pack rocks down

I banged each glass on the table several times to pack the stones down.

    faux succulent plant containers

The bag of stones were just the right size for the job. Don’t know what I would have done if I came up short. I didn’t think that far ahead.

    remove succulent from stem

When I got to the martini glass the succulents were a little tall so I pulled the tops out of the stems.

Faux Succulents In Fancy Thrift Store Glasses

See how easy that was. This is thrifty décor at it’s best. The glasses as plant containers really make a statement. I’m glad I thought of those succulents.

The colors are so pretty. I especially love that pop of red.

Thrift Store Decor: DIY Succulents Display Idea

I think the project cost was less than $5. Not bad.

And I don’t have to worry about watering. Win.

Pin it so you won’t forget it…..

What a cute way to display these faux succulents! I like the variety of shapes and sizes of the glass containers. Using the little tray really sets off the collection, too.

Those are so cute! i want to pin them, but don't know where to click. When I click the red P at the top of the post, it just gives me one of the tutorial photos, not the finished project that I want. Any ideas?

Hi Naomi, I changed the featured image so it would pull up the pretty photo from the pin it button up top. Depending on the platform you are using if you hover over the photo on the top right the Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter share buttons will pop up. I'm glad you like the project!

well, well, well! It doesn't get any easier than this, now does it? I love your new faux succulents Kathy. They look spectacular in the glassware.

I think the candles would have worked if they were faux and didn't have the metal rims ???

      pinned!

This is so nice, I'm going to experiment with using some beach glass pieces, or iridescent/opalescent glass pieces that come in bags like the river rock - think that might be pretty too in a beach/ocean decor. You have such great ideas. Thank you.
