Spray Paint Faux Succulents White For Spring Decor

The faux succulents I spray painted white are simply gorgeous. I got the idea from a gift shop item I spotted last week on vacation. Just wait until you see these beauties.

Today is one of my favorite days of the month: Thrift Store Decor Tour Day. After reading my tutorial, be sure to take the tour.

The white succulents needed vases or pots, so I gathered items from my “treasured junk finds” shelf in the workshop.

Then I pulled out my tote of faux or artificial succulents. I bought most of them at Dollar Tree, but a few came from local craft stores when I caught them on sale.

I selected these small artificial succulents for today’s project.

The faux white succulent and vase that inspired this project had a flat or matte sheen. I didn’t think I had a good flat white paint on my shelf, so I went to the local home improvement store and purchased the Krylon Fusion matte finish paint in white.

I applied a couple of coats of Krylon spray paint to three succulents and one clear vase. The paint did not seem to cover well and had those little clear runny spots you sometimes see when spray painting items.

Looking over the paint shelf in my workshop again, I found a can of white flat spray paint. This spray paint worked much better, and I could have saved some money. Next time, I will check my supplies a little closer.

The project turned out better than I anticipated. I love the look of the white succulents, which are displayed here with the gold metallic spray-painted vases from last month.

I made the faux silver mercury glass a few years ago. I like combining vintage items like the enamel cup with modern decor. The enamel cup is a find from my favorite junk shop.

Finding inspiration for DIY projects is as easy as keeping your eyes open when shopping, driving, looking at magazines, etc.

This was such a fun project. Spray paint makes everything better….even my day! Spray paint is the miracle product everyone needs in their DIY/craft supplies.

  1. Such a fresh look for spring! I would have never thought of painting the succulents. I have some faux ones on the screened porch that are fading. This would be a good project for them!

  2. I like the way they turned out too! I have some Dollar Tree succulents I could try it with!
