You can add a touch of Christmas to any home decor piece, like vintage silver plate dishes. I have a thing for silver plate pieces, and when I find relatively inexpensive trays or really decorative dishes I buy them.

If you visit here often, you will remember this silver plate lot I bought at an auction a few weeks ago. All of these pieces were $15.

And this silver plate lot from the same auction was $7. Good deals for sure.

They have been sitting in an old tote in our workshop since we brought them home. To say I have been lazy lately is an understatement. I did put up a lot of Christmas decorations, which I didn’t plan to do.

I planned to cut down on the decorating this year, but since hubby and my son pulled everything out of the storage shed, I gradually added Christmas here and there throughout the house and on the porch.

But I hadn’t created any Christmas new decor this year except for the holographic ornaments I made last month using a Dixie Belle kit. So, while I was being a couch potato a couple of days ago, I got to thinking about all of those pretty silver plate dishes in the workshop—it was time to do something with them.

Doing something with them wasn’t difficult at all. I selected the items I thought would go together well and added bits of Christmas.

The snowman is an ornament; in the past, he was featured in my winter scenes in glass bottles and jars

I snipped the greenery pieces from a garland I never seem to use. The tall piece on the right was obviously missing something but that wasn’t a problem. I set one of my Spode Christmas glasses in the center and filled it with Hershey’s Kisses.

I have a lot of the Spode Christmas dishes but they were all purchased at a deep discount at after Christmas sales over the years. You guys know me and my thrifty ways.

Remember, your home decor displays should consist of odd numbers. My display has five pieces, and decorating every piece is not necessary. Things can get overdone really quickly.

We can’t forget my Shiny Brites! I usually fill my tree with ornaments, but I went lighter with ornaments this year. I might eventually get a photo of it to share with you. The tree does look good.

I love the dish with the domed lid. You might notice I didn’t shine up the pieces; I just removed the auction stickers.

I moved the display to our living room and set it on the small table I painted with Dixie Belle paint. The Acadia paint color is a rich shade of green with a hint of blue.

And that is it. If you have a few silver plate pieces, add your favorite Christmas items to them and set them around your home. They add a bit of class! If you don’t have any silver plate head to the thrift store because they usually have several inexpensive pieces.
