Handmade Christmas ornaments are my favorite type of ornaments. They usually have a story. I love a good story.
Christmas trees make me smile. I can’t help it; they just do. Even the Charlie Brown Christmas tree. In the last couple of years, I’ve made a few ornaments for the tree. They hang alongside my collection of vintage Shiny Brite ornaments.
I hand-selected a few favorite handmade Christmas ornaments made by crafty friends….and me. These ornaments make me smile.
Vintage Christmas Card Tree Ornaments from Petticoat Junktion
The Christmas tree ornaments are featured in this month’s Country Sampler’s Christmas Decorating special edition. I made the ornaments last year.
I had a collection of vintage cards, and I also ordered more from eBay. The vintage cards have so much character. The ornaments can be put together in minutes. This would be a great project for the kids. If you don’t have any vintage cards, just use new ones!
I made the Snowmen ornaments last month. Who would think of painting Ball Jar lids and adding wiggly eyes but me. The orange nose is part of an artificial flower.
No Sew Sock Penguin from Up on Tippy Toes
The penguin is adorable. You’ll be surprised when you see what’s in his belly.
Driftwood Sailboat Ornament from An Extraordinary Day
I have to say the sailboat is probably my very favorite of the bunch. I don’t know if it’s the neutral color or what but I like it.
Rustic Wood Painted Christmas Tree Ornament from Domestically Speaking
Wood rounds are popular for all kinds of DIY. I think even I could make this tree. No special painting skills required. It sure makes a statement though.
DIY Mistletoe Ornaments from The Silly Pearl
I have a soft place in my heart for felt. The mistletoe ornaments are too cute.
Hot Cocoa Mix Ornaments from Cupcakes and Crinoline
Okay, I have to say the Cocoa mix ornaments are cute but not sure I would make a cup of hot chocolate using the ingredients in the ornament.
Bottle Brush Christmas Tree Ornament from Pet Scribbles
Bottle brush trees are a win-win. Doesn’t matter what you do with them, I like it.
Birch Wood Ornaments from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia
Another wood slice DIY. I have got to get on the wood slice bandwagon. Anytime I see the word JOY I get a good feeling.
DIY Nativity Ornament from The Heathered Nest
I’m gaga over this ornament. So creative. Who would think to use peanuts for Baby Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. You have to see the tutorial.
