The only thing better than a thrifty find is giving it a makeover. And that’s what this crew does. We worked hard all year, thrifting, recycling, and repurposing found items.
I’ve selected my favorite makeovers from the Thrift Store Decor Team, plus two of my own. We also rounded up our best thrift store makeovers from this year and past years. There are a total of 90 projects with photos linked at the end of the post. Enjoy.
Thrifty Makeovers
I hope these makeovers inspire you to pull out a glue gun, a can of spray paint, or a bottle of Mod Podge and recreate something soon.
Finials as decor are kind of dated. Kristin repurposed her old thrift store finials into candleholders. The new look is so much better. Take a look at the before...
This is one of the coolest makeovers I've seen, and I'm on the hunt for a photo frame collage of my own. There wasn't much work involved in the makeover, either. The new look is definitely mid-Century Modern!
I love a good decoupage project, although sometimes I want to pull my hair out when working with Mod Podge. Gail did a fabulous job on this basket and napkins are hard to work with. Or that is what I have found!
A little glue repair and a coat of spray paint in a modern color is all this table needed to make it shine.
Cheeseboxes are also a bit outdated. Pam added a hanger and shelf to an old cheesebox to make it into a cute "wreath."
You have to see the before photo to appreciate the makeover. There was a lot of rust so a lot of sanding was involved. Then the hardware got a good refresh with Bar Keepers Friend. I love this product.
I love spray paint. You guys probably know that already. It is so easy to use and makes for a quick project. Taping the design on the vases took longer than spray painting them.
Project inspiration for the painted succulents came by way of a display I spotted in a gift shop while on vacation. Spray painting Dollar Tree succulents white was easy.
