Used Baskets From The Junk Shop

On my latest junkin’ trip I bought several baskets and I can’t wait to brighten them up. I also bought a few things from the local online auction.

My granddaughter Sofi went to the junk shop with me. I spotted this piece but didn’t know what I could do with it. She said she would make some mini cupcakes to display on the tiered wood holder. Great idea. I have to paint it first though.

The vinyl pumpkin decal on the painted wood sign has to go. It isn’t adhered very well and I can make a different sign with the wood.

The candleholder looks like an old Kirkland or Bombay piece. I plan to paint it white and distress the paint.

This basket will get a coat of white paint. It would make a great centerpiece. I just need to decide what to put in it.

I plan to paint this wrought iron piece white also. Then hang it on the wall. I love architectural pieces.

The frame will be painted white. When I say white I really mean off-white. The pieces I spray paint will be painted with Rust-Oleum Satin Heirloom White, my favorite off-white paint color.

The metal hanging bucket or “mail box” is so cute. The colors are perfect for Summer. I just wish it didn’t say Mail Box. I think someone wrote that on the metal with a permanent marker. I may be able to remove the writing but it’s doubtful.

This dark basket has burlap ribbon wrapped around the top. I plan to brush paint the basket and burlap white.

The wire basket was cool too. Guess what? It’s going to be white.

The basket with divider is very, very dirty. Luckily the divider is removable. I plan to clean it and paint it. How about black?

levels bought at auction

I bought the three levels at an online auction and I think I paid $2 for all 3.

metal mail sorter

The metal mail or card cabinet was $5. I am taking it to the booth as is because I don’t need this piece and do not want to paint it.

porcelain pot with lid

The last piece is the enamel pot with lid. I paid $10 for it.

What do you think of my purchases? Any project ideas? Leave a note and thanks for being here, Kathy

  1. Nice finds as usual! I could see the basket painted orange for Halloween. I agree with you on the white paint, you can’t go wrong. Too bad they put a sticker on the aqua board, it’s really a neat color.

  2. Try alcohol on the permanent marker. It may work, just be gentle .
