I’m not sure what the person behind these designs was going for but it didn’t work for me. The thrift store price did….$2.48 at half price….$1.24.

The shelf now has a second life as a DVD organizer. My first thought was to use if for my cookbooks and I did try it but the cookbooks are too wide. The shelf worked but didn’t look nearly as cool as it does here. Can you see the titles on the DVDs? Some of them are the granddaughters favorite movies, some are Xbox Kinect sports and dance fun, and some are yoga DVDs. Those yoga ones don’t get much use but I sure love the dance ones.

    Rustoleum Primer Petticoat Junktion project

I decided on a pretty red spray paint and started to work. The brand I used didn’t cover well at all. I got out my Rust-Oleum Gray Primer and sprayed over the red.

Once again I tried using the red spray paint over the primer and it looked like this. The brand shall remain nameless. By far my favorite spray paint brand is Rust-Oleum. I gave up on the red spray paint and grabbed the special mix latex paint from my red cedar chest. It’s the perfect red.

I distressed the shelf once the paint was dry and used Howard’s Wax in walnut to age the paint finish.

Brilliant idea Kathy! I have the same shelf I found at Goodwill. I think this would be great for my son at College!

Great idea to flip it!!! Those previous designs were kind of spooky, lol. I bet it was a kid having fun, though. 🙂 Great job, Kathy! I'm thrilled to be part of this awesome team!!
