There are many ways to recycle, repurpose, and upcycle glass bottles, jars, and containers into decorative pieces. You can create unique vases, pretty candle holders, one-of-a-kind gift containers, seasonal scene displays, and bottle collection displays for your home in just minutes.
If you’re anything like me, you probably have a hard time throwing away a perfectly good glass jar, whether it’s a cool vintage bottle found at the flea market, an empty spaghetti sauce jar, or a unique glass container that once housed a store-bought candle. Today, I’m sharing a few of my favorite ways to transform ordinary glass into something special for your home.

Turning these ordinary glass containers into beautiful home decor is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to add personality to your space. Plus, crafting with recycled glass jars is eco-friendly.
Spray paint is a miracle product. It’s easy to use, and you get quick results. Spray painting a jar with textured paint takes less than 5 minutes and gives it an instant, casual, coastal look. That’s what I did with these thrift store shakers.

If you really want those raised details on vintage decanters or bottles to pop, a light dry-brushing technique over the top works like magic, giving them a dimensional look and adding character to flat paint. For the base color, just a quick coat of spray paint does the trick, and the color choices are endless.
Place single flower stems into the decanters (faux or real), and the stoppers can also be used as vases. Just place tiny flowers into the stoppers.

If painting isn’t your thing, or if you just want to try something a little different, decals are the way to go. You can find inexpensive decals at the Dollar Tree that completely change the look of a clean glass bottle in under two minutes. It’s a great project for beginners, kids, or when you just want a quick crafting win.
Keep in mind that you can always remove those decals and give the bottles a new look, maybe change the look with the seasons.

My best DIY trick is using what I already have on hand to add a little personality to my projects. If you collect vintage jewelry, old buttons, or pretty ribbons, try wrapping a piece or two around the neck of a small bottle. Hot-gluing an old brooch directly to the front of a jar is a fantastic, unexpected way to display a beautiful collection instead of leaving it hidden away in a drawer. That’s what I did with my bling bottles!
