Would you believe I still have Christmas decor on our front porch? Well, it’s true. I keep forgetting about it because we don't use our front door. If the door bell rings we know it's a salesman so we pretend no one is home. Just kidding....kind of.
There are empty pots that usually hold flowers and a bunch of pine cones from Arkansas in the rusty wagon. And there is artificial Christmas greenery in a wood container. If the greenery is still there on Easter it would be a great place for the Easter bunny to hide dyed eggs. Just sayin’
Showing you photos of our real house today. Not the staged photos where everything is in place or carefully edited. These photos are unedited.
A look at the REAL Home
I talked about replacing the dresser in our bedroom with the newly painted black and gold stripe chest of drawers. And we did, yesterday. As you can see I haven’t changed the decor to fit the new chest. The extra pillows from the bed are usually stacked right there. Sometimes they get thrown on the bed when we make it and sometimes not.
The trunk usually holds discarded clothing and for the past couple of weeks a cut glass deviled egg dish has been sitting on the trunk. I bought it at my favorite junk shop for my sister. She requested I look for one with a divided area for relish or pickles or whatever in the middle. I found the perfect dish. In fact it’s so perfect I want it for myself.
The nightstands on either side of the bed don’t match the new chest. They will get painted one of these days.
I have this dream that the decorating fairy will make an appearance while I’m sleeping. When I wake up the room is painted a soft white, the bed is covered with a puffy white comforter and a ton of fluffy pillows. The floors would be wood, light colored wood, and the ceiling fan would be nice and white and have a remote control. So far the dream hasn’t come true yet.
When the JTS changed out the chest of drawers the winter clothes got stacked on the floor in the spare bedroom.
How do you like this print. The short curtain panel has been in my junk stash for a few years. I love it. It’s been laying on the kitchen table for a week. I’m thinking of changing out that short valance I made a few months ago. The flowered curtain panel is small but it would be big enough to make short panels that cover the lower half of the window.
This is a view of the living room. A couple of days ago I was taking photos of a new craft project that was sitting on the coffee table and I stacked the pillows out of the way.
One drawer from the replaced dresser that hasn’t made it to the workshop yet. And shoes, all kinds of shoes by the door.
I keep those fleece blankets on the couch because I’m usually cold if I’m just sitting doing nothing. The camera on the cedar chest is my latest toy. I really think I should stop buying cameras and hire a professional photographer. Not going to happen.
Miss Sofi is growing up and we replaced her car seat with a big girl booster seat. Now the car seat is hanging out in the den beside the extra heater.
Another extra heater hiding behind the couch. Our den is big and the heat and air vents are in the ceiling. In the winter the den is a few degrees cooler than the rest of the house.
The laundry room is off of the den. It just has drywall and no paint. Also no light in the ceiling just one on the wall with a pull switch. Same as when we bought the house 28 years ago
Last photo. A look at the back door area in the carport. The door we use all the time. As you can see there are empty plant containers here too. Nothing has been decorated since the Christmas stuff came down.
Hope I didn’t shock you guys with a look at our REAL home. Do you have catchall areas in your house, or places that you throw stuff, or areas that could use some decorating? Leave me a note and have a great day!
