Junk Buys Of the Week

Hey Guys! It’s been a while since I posted my junk finds. The main reason is that it’s been too hot for me to shop. I never thought I would say it’s too hot to shop but there it is.

I bought this basket at the Southern Kentucky Flea Market. It is rather large and is made to hang on the wall or on a door. I plan to fill it with flowers for a Fall display but I first had to seal it. When I arrived home with the basket and removed it from the back floor of the truck, there was white paint flakes all over the carpet.

That chipping paint was really chipping off. I brushed a sealer over it, and I’m now just waiting on inspiration.

This is a rather large vase too. I didn’t measure the vase but I bet it is at least 3 ft. tall. The vase is made of metal and it was $4. What a deal. Then after I put it in the shopping cart, I noticed it had a few small dents on one side. I bought it anyway. The plan is to paint it white and distress the paint.

This painting with a beautiful frame was only $3.99. I really got some deals on this shopping day. I plan to remove the painting and paint the frame. Maybe frame something else.

When I’m not working on projects or on the blog, I read to relax. I hardly ever buy new books. Too expensive. I buy them at thrift stores, usually for 99 cents.

I got a good price on the two iron pieces also. I first planned to spray paint them but decided to take them to the booth as they are and sell them.

A better photo of the basket. The basket was $4!

This basket was $3. I plan to leave it as is and display it under a piece of tall furniture or set it on a coffee table and use it to hold magazines and decor pieces.

I liked the two decanters and they were $2 each. I plan to paint them.

I thought I got a deal on the turquoise piece with a handle but noticed after I brought it home that there was a small chip on the lip. The chip is smooth and not rough so I plan to use the piece as a candleholder or a candy holder!

I won the ice skates at an online auction for $5.

I got this set of round mirrors at Goodwill.

When I took the tape off of them, I noticed the large one on the bottom was broken. Oh well, I still have 4 mirrors for $3.99.

I bought the pair of iron hanging stand things at My Favorite Junk Shop for $5.

I bought this little dish with a handle for 99 cents at Goodwill on the same day, and guess what…

How perfect is that? I plan to do more to the two pieces, so stay tuned.

I got two Coca-Cola crates at the junk shop for $5 each because they aren’t in very good shape.

On one, the bottom is missing a few pieces. I do love the red color. I may use them in my booth at the shop to display small items.

Now I’m just sharing photos from the shops of cool things I didn’t buy. I really liked that white brocade satin chair.

And look at the iron beds.

How perfect is the white crocodile crackle on the iron bed?

And this bin is wonderful but the price was way too high for me.

The china cabinet was gorgeous. I have stopped buying large pieces like this one because the JTS and I do not need to be picking up that much weight.

Okay, that’s it for my haul. What do you think? Leave a note if you have time, Kathy
