My Finds: Table | Skunk | Bookcase | Metal Stuff | Wood Egg Crate

It has been almost a month since my last junkin’ trip. Not good. My trip to the shop yesterday made up for the weeks I missed. I bought a bunch of small items plus a couple of small furniture pieces. I have a backlog of furniture in the workshop now so I’m not really on the hunt for furniture. Of course if I run across an awesome piece at a great price I’ll grab it.

It you’ve been here before you know this is the front view of my favorite junk shop. The owner had to clean it up a year or so ago because the “city” didn’t like all the junk!

The photo above is how the shop always looked in the years before the clean up. So much fun to dig through the stuff. The inside of the shop and the fenced in area on the side are still stuffed to the brim with good junk.

I bought this cute kitchen chair/stool. The splatters of paint don’t bother me at all.

I passed on the pair of tables because they were too frufru for me.

The clay pot was a must have. I may try the textured paint thing on it or leave it as is after I clean it up.

The table above is actually two tables nailed together. Mr. Butler said they used to do this all the time with the half tables. That’s a new one on me. Never seen that before.

I bought the table and plan to take the two tables apart. I actually like the rough finish on the tables where the stain is missing.

Cool trunk but I didn’t buy it and didn’t even ask the price. I have a hard time selling trunks. It is nice though. I love that fabric. How about you?

I couldn’t pass up the wrought iron piece.

I also bought a few railroad spikes.

My pile of stuff at the shop.

I bought this bookcase too. It will be used in one of my booths as part of the display. I need to clean it up and distress the paint some more. I already pulled all the nails where there was a back attached to the bookcase before I got it.

Check out the video below I made on an earlier trip to the junk shop…..

I bought the two metal wall organizer things.

And I love this wood egg crate. At least I think that’s what it is. I definitely have a bunch of cleaning to do on todays load of stuff.

The little skunk ceramic or plaster piece is too cute. I may clean it up or I may try painting him.

The red on the old drill caught my eye.

I have a plan for this shovel head.

The rake heads are great for hanging necklaces, aprons, etc.

The lantern was in great shape. Usually the glass is broken.

I also fell for the stained glass napkin holder. There is a place on the back that I think is for holding napkins. I bet you thought like I did that it was a trivet. Last piece of my haul. I bought a ceramic cherub but it didn’t get loaded with my other stuff. That’s ok. They will have it for me when I make my next trip to the shop.

I paid $100 for the haul. What do you think? Good deal or not? Do you have any ideas on how to makeover or display my finds? Leave a note if you have time. Thanks for being here, Kathy

  1. And I’m jealous of you! I have always wanted to go to Canton. I don’t have a clue about the railroad spikes!

Oh, what fun! Looks like an awesome place to visit! We don’t have any true junk stores around me anymore. I sure miss them but I am near Canton, Texas – Or first Monday is most people refer to it – and there’s tons of junk there. After reading this, I have to go to the next one.

I gotta ask.. what do you think you’ll do w this old railroad stakes? I used to have a bunch of turn. My boss would find them on their way to visit friends.

you do find the coolest stuff. Really love the oak leaves and acorns metal piece. Jealous of the skunk- -my husband would have bought that & I would paint it!

  4. I love my steamer trunk, maybe i should paint the inside or use some transfers! That napkin holder looks like a doorstop to me! I’m always envious of your shopping trips – thanks for sharing!

  5. Looks like you found some great treasures! Especially for the price! I especially like the kitchen stool covered in paint splatters and the wrought iron thing! I would like to have a junk place like that near me!
