This $6 Solid Wood Dresser Is An Auction Buy

Yep I bought this beauty at an auction for $6 plus tax so still less than $7. How often does this happen? Hardly ever, although I have got some good auction deals in the past.
I bought several things at the junk shop and the auction and I’m sharing them with you today.
As I mentioned in the title, this dresser or maybe buffet is solid wood. And…it is extremely heavy. If I had only known how heavy it was I would have passed even with the fantastic price.
The hubby and I are getting too old to move heavy furniture. The hubby has health issues and I don’t have a lot of strength. The dresser was laying on its back in the truck bed and we managed to pull it to the end of the bed and lay it down on the garage floor which meant it was standing on end.
Then we set it on its feet and put rubber sliders under the feet to slide it around the garage. I don’t know if we are up to loading it back in the truck when I get ready to take it to my booth at the antique shop.
Usually when I have a heavy piece there are a bunch of drawers I can remove before moving it but that is not the case here and I hate to remove the cabinet doors because sometimes when I put the doors back on they do not close properly or fit properly.
I don’t know why that would be because they are in the same place with the same hardware! Anyway, enough about the dresser.
I bought the pair of vintage prints from the online auction for $15. I l love these and plan to hang them in our master bedroom. The walls are brown and the decor is off-white so they will look really nice.
I used to collect various things, like vintage Chinese checkers boards and vintage kitchen scales. Now, I have a thing for butter dishes. I paid $7 for the butter dish with the dome. It seems people aren’t interested in cut glass pieces anymore, so I can’t give them away in my booth.
This piece I paid more than I normally would but if you have been reading the blog for a while you know I have a thing for yellow and orange…just about any bold color.
The old gas cans were $7 for the pair and I have already sold the large one.
I bought four of these glass jars for $7 each. One is sitting on my kitchen counter, filled with candy!
Now, it’s time for the things I bought at my favorite junk shop and also a look around.
Readers are always amazed at the amount of stuff sitting in the parking lot and out back of the shop.
There are all kinds of doors.
And Mr. Butler’s moving truck filled with stuff.
Old windows of all shapes and sizes. He has a buyer that comes from somewhere up north every so often to load up on windows.
I purchased the two plastic flower pots and I plan to make them beautiful. They will not look like plastic when I finish with them. They were $1 each!
I also bought the vintage step stool for $5.
This is a look behind the fence in front of the building.
It is really hard to sell milk glass pieces too.
The beautiful painting of fruit was $24 and I debated forever on buying it. But I passed. A mistake? You tell me.
That’s it for my junk finds show and tell. Thanks for being here, Kathy

I love your butter dish. That dish and any glass lidded dish looks beautiful with lights in it! You can use a remote puck light, fairy lights, or a plastic votive candle. I have a green dish that I put a light in and it just sparkles, and I bet your clear glass would look magnificent!
You need to find some high school boys who need some extra cash and pay them to help with the load and unload. Contact the local high school football coach – they always know who needs the work.
I don’t think you made a mistake by passing on the fruit picture — personally I don’t care for it — and at $24 I think it would be hard to resell at a profit — I have seen similar pictures for sale in our area (northeast) at much lower prices and they remain in the shops for a long time. But I love the store you found that picture in and would love to shop there!
I think you missed the boat on that framed fruit picture. The print is beautiful, nice vintage frame – no upcycle needed. Great price too! I’d have grabbed it immediately.
