This Scrabble tile craft is so colorful; I just love it. Nothing says Spring like green and yellow!

I was wandering around the workshop looking for project inspiration when I spotted the wood toy train piece. I bought it at my favorite junk shop a while ago. The green color caught my eye. Then I saw the Scrabble tiles and an idea was born.

Continuing to look around the workshop, I spotted the bold yellow wheels and was ready to get to work.

Nothing says Spring craft like “spring” Scrabble tiles. I just couldn’t figure out how to make them work with the toy train car.

So, I thought about the problem for a while and came up with an idea. I found the yellow faux Forsythia stem in my tote of flowers—another item to add to the mix. I hot-glued the flower stem to the top side of the train car.

And I hot glued the Scrabble tiles to the bottom side of the green wood piece.

I hung the train car on the yellow wheel using jute twine and a drawer pull. The yellow wheel is from a John Deere Tractor Pedal Car.

The yellow furniture knob from Hobby Lobby was perfect for this mix of oddball items. I inserted it through the center hole in the wheel and screwed the nut onto the backside.

At the same time I added a wire around the nut to use as a hanger. You can see the backside of the wheel in one of the photos above.
