Summer Home Decorating Projects
When I think of Summer and how I want my home to look I think light and airy. I want my curtains pulled back and the sun shining in. I want lightweight bedding and touches of white everywhere.
White Home Decor Accessories
So I try to add white pieces in every room. I go through the house and see what I have that needs a refresh and then paint them white. Spray painting a few home decor accessories is super easy and inexpensive. If you don’t have anything at home you want to paint don’t forget to check out the thrift store or maybe yard sales.
Distressing the white paint just makes it better. See how I painted and distressed a bunch of pieces at one time here….Painting and Distressing Home Decor.(click any of the highlighted and underlined orange links to view the full Summer home decorating projects tutorials.)
Painted Seashell Container Display
Summertime decorating at our house always includes a few seashell displays. We’ve collected a bunch of seashells over the years. The seashell container above is from the thrift store. It had a bunch of gold writing on the glass when I bought it.
Did you know you can just scrape that stuff off? That’s what I did and then painted and aged the container base and top. Remember the china cabinets that had gold trim on the glass? Maybe you have one. You can scrape that off too. If you don’t want to paint your china cabinet just scraping off that gold would make the cabinet more modern looking.
Painted Herb Pots
The herb pots are by Kristin, My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia. The white paint with the sisal rope says Summer for sure. And with the chalkboard paint area you can change the wording anytime. Maybe you want to fill the pot with seashells instead of plants. Find the tutorial here….Painted Herb Pots.
Nautical Rope Coasters
Do you see kind of a nautical beachy theme in my selections? I could live on the beach if I just had the money (just a daydream). The sisal rope coasters are by Maryann, Domestically Speaking. A super simple project you can find here….. Nautical Rope Coasters.
Glass Fishing Floats
Sarah, Sadie Seasongoods made the glass floats. The colors of the glass are calling my name. She has a full tutorial here…. Glass Fishing Floats. To tell the truth I don’t know if I have the patience for this. I know some of you do.
DIY Nautical Patriotic Banner
When you think of Summer you have to include red, white, blue decorations. The banner by Pam, House of Hawthornes can be hung just about anywhere. I especially like the ticking fabric she used for the anchor banners. Find the project here..Nautical patriotic Banner.
DIY Fire Pit
Gail, My Repurposed Life has the greatest projects but most are too much work for me. The fire pit doesn’t look that difficult though. Find the tutorial here……DIY Fire Pit. Have any of you guys built a fire pit?
Carved Fish Vase Makeover
This easy and thrifty project is by Christy, Our Southern Home. She picked up the wood fish at the thrift store gave it a coat of spray paint then distressed it. My kind of project.
Beach Inspired Bird House
Okay, one more of my projects. I couldn’t resist adding this cute birdhouse. It’s all beached up. I painted it turquoise and gave it a light white wash then added shells, greenery, driftwood, and a bit of old found pieces. Find the complete tutorial here….DIY Beach Inspired Birdhouse Project With A Coastal Vibe
