Jazz up any room with a metallic spray paint home decor project like this fun wood tic tac toe piece.
The spray paint makeover idea I have today features my favorite metallic spray paint colors. That’s the thing with spray paint. There is such a variety of colors these days. Back in the day you had white and black and a few dull colors.
Spray paint is so easy. You can update an out of style thrifty find in no time at all. Or you can makeover some of your outdated decor. Today is Thrift Store Decor Tour day so we have all kinds of upcycling inspiration here. Just remember you can take these ideas and techniques and apply them to all kinds of decor.
Metallic Spray Paint Wood Game Set
Tic Tac Toe games must be the trending decor. I see the sets in the top home decor stores and everywhere on line. I saw a set on Houzz for $92. Can you believe that. It was 14″ square but still.
I bought this wood set at my favorite junk shop for $2. I bet I can make it look classy for a lot less than $92.
I didn’t care for those feet things on the game set. It was easy to remove them.
The screw holes were a bit ragged and a quick sanding took care of that.
I went to the spray paint shelf in the workshop and picked out 3 Rustoleum paint colors, my favorite Heirloom Satin (off-white, almost white), Bright Coat Metallic (silver), and Metallic Rose Gold. I painted the tray white, the X’s silver, and the O’s rose gold.

I didn’t care for the rose gold with the silver so I went back to the shelf and found my favorite Metallic Copper paint. Much better.
See how cute this is now. Even if you figure in the cost of the cans of spray paint this project was less than $20 but we all know I use that spray paint over and over on a lot of projects so this one probably cost at the most…..less than $5. A little cheaper than $92. I even saw similar metallic sets for $150+. Craziness.

I might distress the wood game board later.
Granddaughter Sofi and her friend Natalie like to play tic tac toe. Mostly they want to hurry and put all their pieces on the game board at the same time.

This turned out fabulous. Would love to find a set for the back porch!
I love it!! It looks like something straight out of a boutique – great job. And I love copper spray paint, too.

I love the mix of metals… so pretty!
Your are the spray paint queen! Such a cute idea. I do like the copper color too! The metallic spray paints used to be so fake looking, they’ve really gotten better at making it look very realistic now!
