Table And Chairs Junk Shopping Haul

Time for another trip to my favorite junk shop. I bought a truck load of stuff including rusty junk, a table, chairs, and lots of blue Ball jars.

my favorite junk shop

First I wanted to show you how the outside of the junk shop looks now. Mr. Butler cleaned it up a few months ago because the city was giving him a hard time. I don’t know why. All of the stuff was confined to his parking lot and he does have a commercial business.

My favorite junk shop before clean up

The photo above is a shot from one of my many shopping trips before the clean up. See, doesn’t look bad and it looks a lot more inviting than that woo fence.

This is a look at what’s behind the lattice fence. A lot of reclaimed windows, bed rails, shutters, etc.

The view above is the side of the shop and it’s all fenced in too.

rustic chippy paint iron base for table

Moving on to my purchases. What do you think of the iron piece? It is really heavy and the rust and chippy paint are perfect. The cost was $20. It would make a nice work table or maybe a kitchen island.

Of course this red ladder caught my eye. You guys know how I love red. This piece will be great for displaying things in my booth.

table to paint

The round oak table was $25 and I’m already painting on it. The style might be a little outdated but painting it will change the yellow oak look completely.

vintage chairs with fabric seats for painting and recovering

I bought 4 cane back chairs. I don’t plan to match them with the round oak table because the styles are too different. The plan for the chairs is white paint and a pretty fabric for the seats with a lot of color.

reclaimed wood shutters

I bought 4 large purple shutters at $4 each.

small window shutters

I bought the pair of small indoor folding window shutters for $10.

I also bought 7 blue Ball jars with old zinc lids and forgot to get a photo of them. I plan to sell them at the shop. You can see the truck was loaded down and I had stuff in the back seat. Mr. Butler is always smiling.

Where you can find my favorite shop…..Butler’s Antiques, 17th and Walnut Street, Hopkinsville KY 42240,  phone no. (270)885-1521

Butlers is about 40 minutes from my home in the Clarksville area. From downtown Nashville the drive is about 1½ hours. Store hours are Monday- Saturday, 9-5 or 6 depending on daylight hours and how busy the shop is.

The Butler Family from Butler's Antiques, Hopkinsville, KY

Mr. Raymond Butler is the shop owner. He has several sisters who work in the shop with him on various days. Ms Francis is usually there every day and when I try to get a photo of her she takes off. I did manage to get her on video once. Ms Carrie is the organizer and wow has the shop gone through a major transformation since I started visiting.

Butler's Antiques

The building is two stories and there is a living area up top. I’ve never been to the second floor. The bottom floor is the shop and there are 7 or 8 rooms. At one time some of the rooms were so full of junk that we couldn’t shop them. Now all the rooms are open and have big walkways. We have Ms Carrie to thank for that.

Ms Suzette is the sister who works at a factory in Hopkinsville. She stops by after work some days and on Saturday. She is always smiling and likes to have her photo taken. Mr. Butler is also a camera hog.

This is not a paid advertisement!!! You guys are interested and I thought it was time to share. And now…as I do after every trip…..here’s the pics of some of my all time favorite finds from the junk shop.

I loaded up 6 of these door headers.

I debated a long time over the mirror. It would have been for me and not for resale so I decided against it.

Heart Ironwork for me. Take the junk shop video tour I made on another junk shopping day…..

Poor little girl, her flower pot is broken. She’s still a beauty and somehow I left without her too. I meant to bring her home and got sidetracked. That happens a lot! Well, that’s the info on My Favorite Junk Shop.

If you like flea market shopping you can find everything you always wanted to know about the Nashville Flea Market here.

  1. I love your “this is me” natural photos. I too wear no makeup and always have paint spattered clothes on at home. I like the rusty table and cant wait to see what you do with it.! Have you ever posted pictures of your spaces at the antique places you mentioned? they must be awesome!

  2. Thanks for getting back to me! I thot the same thing. I’ll be in south East near Somerset. Is Hopkinsville in NE corner of KY? I was looking for the junk shop address you shared I think? I’m not moving till end of year probably. And I’m in Oregon now. Daughter is trying to find a house with land to ‘homestead’! Harder to find just what will work got them. She is just finishing her grad degree this month so will have real time to look better. She works full time too. So I will keep in touch if you like. I txt more than call cuz it’s not an interruption. A person can respond when there is time. I just realized my number would be shown publicly so won’t put it in here. Can I direct message any way to share a number? Regardless it will be fun to meet and maybe go hi Kim together!!!

  3. The piece that intrigues me the most is the rusty old iron piece. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.,

  4. Nice haul! I like to reupholster chairs, so those are my favorite ? I look forward to seeing them redesigned!

  5. Oh wow! I can’t wait to meet you. Where in Kentucky? The junk shop is in Hopkinsville, Ky. My booths are in Clarksville at You Never Know and Warehouse 41 Vintage Market. I would love to get together. You sound like a woman after my own heart!

  6. Do you live in Kentucky! My daughter moved there a year ago and I’m moving soon. And I am gonna hit that shop. Ive followed for years too. I’d love to work with you. I began up cycling and painting antique furniture in 1981. I couldn’t afford refined antiques so I bought beat up ones and used paint to bring beauty to them. A piece still has the character I love antiques for and my house is white cream and few wood pieces. Lots of iron and some rust. Eclectic has always been who I am!!! I’m going to find your shop too. Send me the address of the mall or building it is in please. Yay!!!!! I’m really excited to know I can find you and the shop along with junk shop. I used to sell in mall spaces in various towns I’ve lived. I still have boxes of unsold antiques to sell some day. I’m kate and I look forward to meeting you in KY.

  7. What a great haul! I wish I had a junk shop like that nearby. I appreciate your no makeup and paint clothes pic as that’s how I look everyday now. I am a big fan of those round oak tables as I have one myself that I painted, but I am most intrigued by what you are working on now. Pink is one of my favorite colors.

  8. I like the most ))). was the 4 chairs. Loved the blue velvet! Can’t wait to see the before and after of the new finds.

  9. Great haul would love to visits Mr. Butlers place. Where is it located? Love so many of the things you create. Have been following you for years.

  10. I would definitely picked up the little iron table. We have some wonderful native Juniper with live edge that we would have put on top. We do this a lot in our shop but it is hard to find the raw tables like the one you got!

  11. You have a “ great eye” for what sells well in you are’s. I always enjoy your blog

  12. Would love to visit your shop! Please send me your address! I love to paint furniture too!
Glad you’re enjoying yourself and doing something you love.

  13. Hi Kathy! Great price for the shutters. I can’t find any less than 25-50.00. I don’t know why they are so expensive.

  14. What a great haul!!!!!!!!! I love the metal table base…so many possibilities!!!! Where are you and where is Mr. Butler’s place……I would love to take a road trip.

I so enjoy your posts……a true junker and recycler…..a kindred spirit!!!

  15. I saw a painting of a cane end table where the cane was white but the wood was a contrasting darker color and it was stunning! Just an idea!! Love all your finds.

  16. Thank you for the real you. I’m probably close to your age, probably older. I love it when I see similarly motivated people showing their true selves. You are beautiful and inspiring and, I’m guessing, a lot of fun to be around.

  17. Can’t wait to see what and how you deal with the oak table, have one like it and haven’t touched it for years but you are inspiring me to start painting. I’m always afraid of choosing the wrong color or messing things up. I think I will be selling it, the kids don’t want any of the “good stuff”. Would love to know how you price the items you sell, would be helpful. We are in NJ.
    Thanks for sharing

  18. I like the “as you are” photos. it’s nice to see who is posting. Most days I don’t wear makeup. It doesn’t seem to do too much anymore anyway. I was thinking though that you buy the furniture “as is” and put makeup on it with paint.

  19. please e-mail me the address of this place, would love to take a look at the things.
