I got one of those projects finished up yesterday.
It’s really important to me to do at least one paint project or special project each week.
A lot of you guys are here to see new projects….and some of you are here for the junkin’ trips….and some of you are here for both.
I’m glad you’re here….for whatever reason….thanks.
I’ll share more junkin’ trips and Nashville Flea Market photos next week.
I have a ton stored up because I’ve had other things to share.
Chippy Turquoise Crate & Trunk Table on Wheels (or casters)….
I’m not real fancy so I just call them wheels.
Ya’ll might remember this crate from the 400 Mile Yard Sale.
It, along with a couple other goodies only cost me $5.
The World War II foot locker came from My Favorite Junk Shop.
I love knowing the history of things and I tried researching the locker but didn’t get real far.
The name on the locker is G. L. Brewer.
I found a listing of that name from Warren County, Tennessee and the birth date was 1874 so not sure if this is the same person, a relative, or no relation.
I didn’t have any luck looking up the service number that’s on the box.
If any of you know how to maybe find more information please leave me a comment.
I also bought the locking wheels on the 400 Mile Yard Sale.
I got a box of 12 for $20.
That’s a steal!
I brushed a little paint on the shiny silver part around the wheel just to cut the newness a little.
The bottom board on the locker wasn’t very thick and the plates on the wheels had really big holes so I decided to give my Probond Advanced a try.
{This is not a sponsored post}
You can see some of the white glue pressing out around the plates.
The ProBond dries clear.
The glue set up for about 16 hours and I was chomping at the bit to take photos, so I did.
Those wheels are really on there.
I wheeled the locker all over the house taking photos.

How To Create A Patio Party Station
I cleaned the crate and the foot locker then used Hemp Oil to revive the paint.
This photo was taken in the den.
I love chippy paint.
I wheeled the locker into the dining room.
Then we cruised on into the back bedroom.
Do you like the two pieces as they are or would you prefer that they be painted?
Leave me a little note below.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week,

You might try searching on Ancestry.com for the Brewer gentleman. also enter a search for just his service number there, or on google, or better yet on the national archives website, they might be able to help or direct you.
Good luck. I’d love to know someone had my ancestors traveling trunk – but would be sad if I didn’t have it MY posession….at least I could get pics of it!
Debra says
I would leave the trunk the way it is if painted it would take away all the info on the outside of it which is what gives it the look. You could keep the small box the same but don’t leave them together, but the box somewhere else. Nice finds.

Such good ideas and they all seem to turn out well. Have you had any that did not? If so, let us see them; might be interesting….
Diane says
Contact the Veterans Administration & give them that service number. I’ll bet they can help you find that service man. Good luck, & let us know if you find him!

No dont paint them, it just would not be the same. They are wonderful pieces and I like the wheels. It will make a great coffee table. Very handy and will make a side table or many other things.

I heartily agree with commentor above me, do not paint them, perfect and chippy old the way they are. They have obvious history, love them.
Doggone it, wish I’d known there was flea mkt. in Nashville as we’d have sure gone to it while we lived few miles north of Bowling Green, KY. What fun we’d have had. Sometimes even tho the weather was murder on my allergies, asthma and arthritis I’d have loved to stayed there. We had 1 1/2 acres out in country, oldest son bought house, completely redid it for us inside and out and we paid $55,000. We just have not quite 1/2 acre here west of Grand Junction, CO with a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, single wide mfg. home 16×80 for $120,000. I miss our house and great big garage our son built for us also.
We had to walk away from it all, didn’t get penny out of it after 5 yrs. Paid son $5000 to build a $10,000 garage. We put the old kitchen cupboards from house in garage so hubs would have places to store his tools. Had two windows in garage. Can you kick me for letting the place go? I still miss so much about it. Our mfg. home is ok but it’s just not our awesome house.
Since economy started to recover prices of houses are going up here again, ridiculous amounts for places, as bad as Southern CA. We lived in San Diego area for 21 yrs. moved to MT on 20 acres on Canyon Ferry Lake for 7 yrs., duh, sold it to move to KY to be by oldest son/family for 5 yrs.(here to CO. for almost 10 yrs. in late Aug. Now we’re stuck cause the county here decided our place is only worth $60,000 now so we’re underwater can’t sell.
Hubs and I met in Tucson, I’d lived there for 20 yrs.
Yeah I’m somewhat of a gypsy, give me few minutes, I’m ready to go. Used to travel with hubs when he was over road truck driver in MT and KY.
Now we can’t afford to go anywhere or do much of anything. Pretty much stuck. SS doesn’t cover traveling expenses, lol. But at least we’re out in country so don’t have to put up with noises, so quiet out here, it’s really nice, have an awesome view also. Could be worse and I try to remember that. Our daughter/youngest with family live about 7 miles east of us in a small town so we get to see them with 2 awesome grand daughters. Sorry for going on too long.
Happy summer days, don’t work too hard.
