Welcome to my home! My home style is “ Vintage Junk Eclectic “. Crazy huh? That’s me.
Our Summer front porch décor is the perfect example of my style. The décor accessories included a rusty metal elephant and a newish pink Flamingo (eclectic), a chippy painted box(vintage), a falling apart wood bench (junk), and a ton of flowers and ferns in rusty cast iron stands.
My home style doesn’t change much but the décor is ever changing. I decorate according to the seasons. Right now I’m in between seasons. I have a Fall Wreath on the front door hanging from a vintage shutter and Summer ferns on the porch. I plan to complete the Fall decorating this weekend so you’ll have to come back by to see what the porch looks like. I can promise that there will be a lot of things pulled from my workshop and my house. I will buy a few mums but the rest of the décor will be things I have on hand.
This is a seating area on the back deck. I have a cheap plastic chair and a rustic modern table. The table I put together from reclaimed pieces. I styled it with some of my favorite junk finds. The cute little pillow is one I bought from Tuesday Morning…it was on sale, big time.
Notice how my décor moves around. We were having weekend guests so I spruced up the back door area, which is the door we routinely use. Did you notice the painted storm door on the right. It’s the second storm door I’ve painted and the paint sticks! The doors look a lot better when they match the color of the wood door. See where I painted the door with all the details about paint, etc. here….Paint A Metal Framed Storm Door | No Chipping No Peeling
I purchased the red bird feeder at the Nashville Flea Market for $5 and re-purposed it as a hanging flower pot.
Our den. I decided to lighten things up last Summer and painted all of my dark tables white. It really made a difference.

I go junkin’ all the time. It’s my favorite thing. The small antique cabinet doors with the etched glass are purchases from the Nashville Flea Market. They usually grace the mantel for all seasons.
This is the Spring mantel display from last year. It’s an eclectic mix of new artificial flowers, rusty tin, and vintage lamps.
Shiny silver and pink Christmas two years ago.
How about you? Do you like to shop at flea markets? It wasn’t until about 10 years ago that I began to fall in love with vintage, junky, things. They have character and they add dimension to my home décor.
I re-purposed the vintage door knobs as flower vases.
I also paint furniture. If you’re new here you may not know that. If there is one piece I’m known for out of the hundreds of furniture pieces I’ve painted, it’s my Tricycle Red Radio Cabinet. I used Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint on the cabinet and it chipped perfectly.
I started collecting vintage Chinese Checker Boards several years ago. I think I’m ready to get rid of them.
The dining area is a good example of my “Home Style”.
The vases are recycled and spray painted water bottles. I’m always trying new things.
The Angel is an assemblage art project from my found treasures.
This is our guest bedroom. The soft chenille spread and the colorful quilt are a sharp contrast to the dark walls and my hubby’s framed military prints. One term used to describe eclectic is “colorful”. I do love color.
I also like change. This quilt was stitched and hand quilted by my dear grandmother. I change the quilts on this bed often. I have a large collection of vintage quilts. I only buy them when I can get a great deal. A lot of them are torn and worn but I love them anyway.
See what I mean about color! We call this room “the granddaughters room”. They don’t live with us but the room is theirs when they come visit. The framed daisy print is vintage, the banner is handcrafted and new, and one of the pillowcases is a diy by me.
How is this for different? The main bathroom is covered by Wallternatives dots. I added painted frames to the wall and a sewing machine drawer on the vanity as a personal product holder. The dots are vinyl and easily removed. They adhere to the wall great and don’t peel off unless you peel them off.
More of my eclectic décor and diy projects. The antique wicker high chair was a great find.
If you like my style then get out there and shop the flea market and junk shops. I decorate on a budget. It’s fun incorporating unique things into my décor.
Thank you for being here. Kathy

Kathy, your home reminds me of my childhood home. It’s such a treat to visit your’s virtually. I too like to decorate for the season, so right now I’m adding in Halloween decor to my Fall decor. Next year I think I’ll figure out a way to incorporate it all at the same time. Haha!
