Just taking a look at pots of pretty flowers today along with my usual whimsical touches and vintage Art Decor chairs on the porch. Also wanted to share a before photo of the dresser I’m working on for our master bedroom. Almost finished the transformation.
Love the yellow Lantana in the brass pot. I cleaned up the pair of Art Deco chairs I bought at my favorite junk shop for $50.
I washed off most of the loose paint then waxed the chairs with Howard’s Wax, color neutral. I gave the chairs a heavy coat of the wax then buffed them up good.
I really enjoy adding whimsical touches to my porch decorations. I’ve used things like rubber boots, vintage suitcases, and vintage metal coolers. The baby doll toy trike is just there to bring a smile.
I like all my galvanized pails. A lot of them have rusted bottoms where the water will run out. I know the green chairs have a good coat of wax because the water beads up on the chair seat.
A baby doll horse toy. The bold colors get me every time. The toys were auction buys.
I painted the concrete cactus yard art a couple of years ago using watercolor paint. Guaranteed not to wash off outdoors and it didn’t But the color did fade in the sun.
This is how the cactus looked when it was freshly painted.
The succulent rake I made earlier this year is hanging on the front door.
One of my rusty pots with pretty flowers. I have a lot of these pots and only so many flowers. The extra pots are in the workshop.
I love the color of these flowers and I can’t remember the name of them right now. It will come to me in the middle of the night.
The yellow lantana always pop. Good for curb appeal.
As you can see from the photos I just started shooting and didn’t sweep away the debris. You guys know bloggers houses and lawns aren’t perfect (at least mine isn’t) even though some of our staged photos may make it look that way.
One last look at the porch flowers before moving on.
This wicker flower stand belonged to my Mom and it was stored away in one of the sheds at the farm in Arkansas. I brought it home last year and it’s been sitting in the workshop.
Now it’s in the carport holding this pretty pot of flowers I got at Home Depot for $5. The pink and red colors are so pretty together.
I also got the pot of red, white, and blue Morning Glories at Home Depot. I like to wait for the $5 sale baskets.
And now here is the piece of furniture I bought at my favorite junk shop for $35.
I brought it home and unloaded it in the workshop. After measuring it I decided it might work in the master bedroom. I really wanted a Mid Century Modern piece for the space but decided with the brown walls that a painted piece would look better. Maybe I can find a few Mid Century pieces for another room in the house.
That’s it for me. Hope you guys have a relaxing holiday and please stay safe, Kathy

I love that you mentioned you forgot to sweep away the debris. I had to take a second look at the picture to even notice!! Made me feel right at home. I love all your ideas and transformations and I agree, I love Lantana

Look forward to seeing the final transformation. Are those real succulents on the rake?
Kathy Owen says
No, they aren’t real. I don’t have a green thumb although I have some real succulents in the house including Aloe Vera and I’m going to include them in a post next week. So far I’ve managed to keep them alive.

Everything looks great. My favorite is the lantana. There is plenty of lantana in my garden. For the past several years I have filled an old rusted wheelbarrow with it.The name of the flower you can’t remember is portulicia.
