Today’s my day to shine in the Elements of Summer Tour.
Well, maybe glow a little.
If you keep up with Petticoat Junktion you know that I’ve been painting a lot of white furniture.
I’m tired of darkness so I started painting everything in our den.
Well just about everything.
The JTS {aka hubby the Junktion Technical Specialist} ran every time he saw me with a paint brush in my hand.
I didn’t paint anything in the mantel display.
I didn’t buy anything new either.
I gathered things from my workshop and put this together.
The seashells are from the years we lived in Florida and from our visit to Kodiak Island last year.
The white side table was a dull reddish color and now it’s white…with a little toner for aging.
I added a few light colored accent pieces to the table display.
And a new $4 pillow from Tuesday Morning.
How’s that for a deal.
Can you see my rusty white bird cage from the Nashville Flea Market in the background?
Another table I painted and another pillow I bought at Tuesday Morning.
The lighting in the photos is really bad.
I’m not a great photographer, especially when it comes to indoor shots.
The chest is one I painted with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and if you click here you can see a much better photo of it.
The seashells from Florida have been packed away in the shed.
I got tired of displaying them and put them away a few years ago.
Now I’m lovin’ looking at them again.
Good Memories
The 4 pillows are the only new purchases for this room redo.

We’ve been painting a bunch of furniture, too! Isn’t it the easiest way to shake things up without spending a lot of money?

Wow! You have inspired me! After I finish repainting my bathroom, put down brown paper floors in two bedrooms, repaint and paper my guest bathroom, and repaint my master bedroom, guest bedroom, living room, laundry room, and kitchen, I may start painting my furniture white! Whew! That made me tired! But I love the “new” white furniture look!
Kathy Owen says
Boy, that’s a lot of painting!

I love it lighter. It seems to pull it all together. I love eclectic style, but the white really helps unify the space. Summer style!
Andrea Burke says
Yes!! The room looks updated and fresh! I love what you did with your pillows and the shells, I have some and get tired of cleaning them. They are in a basket in the bathroom. They get dusty from me using the hairdryer! Glad you went lighter!
Kathy Owen says
Thanks, Andrea. It isn’t a major change but it makes me feel good!
